Good News...God's News!

If we’re friends on Facebook, then you may have read my status update from earlier this afternoon. I posted about “God News.” All good news = God news in my heart and mind! Good = God! He IS the “Good News!”

You’ve read the brief status update, but please let me share again just how MIGHTY and GLORIOUS our God in heaven is! I had been praying about writing something special for the 100th posting in Cornerstone of Strength. Boy, did God ever deliver! He is right on time! Every time.

He’s always been in the “miracle” business, but it sure is a thrill when He grants one in our present situation. The same God of Moses…separating the Red Sea. Feeding the 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and 3 fish. Raising the son of a widow in Nain. Jesus restored sight to Bartimeus. Jesus healed 2 blind men. He walked on water! The list goes on and on…He REALLY does work in miraculous ways. Not just then, but now too.

My friend Cathy has been in the hospital for several days – a couple of weeks actually. The physicians told her and her husband yesterday that everything had been done, that could be done. They could not save her leg and foot. She needed immediate, dramatic, and life changing surgery so that infection would not turn to gangrene or a blood infection. She was scheduled for amputation of her leg today. The situation was urgent – it needed to be done within 24 hours.

As God would ordain it, at “the last minute,” a consultation with a surgeon came to fruition. The surgeon assessed her foot, her body, and her overall medical condition. The outcome?? NO amputation! He will complete a bypass on Monday (July 15) and he’s 80% sure that it will be effective. There’s new hope! New grace! New healing! She’s back in her room resting comfortably right now – with two complete legs and feet - within the same 24 hours I might add. Amen!

This is truly a miracle. I am wiping a few tears as I recall the goodness and greatness of God! The Christian understands that in God’s divine omnipotence, He doesn’t always grant miracles. Yet, HE certainly is able -- Our God is able, Amen!

Cathy’s husband gave me permission to post a picture of her leg – note the surgeon’s markings for where her leg was to be removed. That’s HOW CLOSE she was to surgery. Just minutes away!

And THAT is how BIG our God is! Let's share the Good News!

Look UP my friends!
