Climbing Stage

How about that problem you’re facing this week? Has it cast a shadow over your otherwise blessed and good life? You know the one…the one your thoughts have been recently consumed with. The one that you’ve lost sleep over, thought about in the wee hours of the dark, worried over, tried to fix within your own means, maybe shed a few tears of anguish over. Maybe you’ve been carrying around misguided guilt for a sin that’s long been forgiven and forgotten? {As people, we tend to beat ourselves up long past when God has washed it away - white as snow through the blood of Jesus}. Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
DO you have a huge mountain in your life right now? I once heard a preacher say that if you aren’t in a valley, then pray up, because every Christian will go through a valley for God’s honor and glory. “If you aren’t being tested, then your wood is wet.” (I would encourage you, if you cannot relate; perhaps you’re on TOP of the peak; pray for those of us who are in the climbing stage!)
Or perhaps you can remember a problem that seemed mammoth to you – you stressed about how things would work out, IF they would work out – the situation just seemed bigger than God. Only to look back and see that God was in control all along! There was clearly no reason not to trust in HIM. The fact is we all have trials, valleys, burdens, and heart aches.
I learned this evening about a 41 year old mother of three who died in the hospital just within the last couple of days. I heard of another incident, where 6 young kids were killed in an automobile accident about two weeks ago, all under the age of 11 years old. People are hurting – for a multitude of reasons. The examples I listed are “extreme,” but there’s no doubt, you too know people in your life who seem to be “going through the fire” in various ways. Or maybe that person is you.
However, we must take time to consider that when we allow our problems to dominate our thoughts and actions, then God fades into second position in our lives. We must be mindful.
It is good to be reminded of what the apostle Paul said in the book of Ephesians. Ephesians 3:20 -21Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
In essence, Paul is saying to us the following:
·         God is able to do MORE than we ask
·         God is able to do MORE than our minds can  imagine
·         God’s abilities ARE immeasurable
·         Unto Him be ALL glory
·         Throughout all of time, all of the ages, HE is Almighty God, the King of Kings

Wow! I think that’s sufficient doctrine to help me face my problems! But let me further say, there are many more scriptures that remind us WHO Jesus really is. The apostle Paul tells us that God works “according to his power that is within us.” This refers to resurrection power! The power that raised our Lord Jesus from the dead!

Maybe you’re thinking, “Well, that sounds pretty good to me, but I don’t know how it applies to my situation.” Think of it this way – Since our Father in heaven raised His Son, Jesus, from the dead, doesn’t He have the power to meet every need and every problem in our life? The answer is a resounding…yes!

God’s power described so beautifully in Genesis – doesn’t stop there. Yes, He created the moon, the stars, the waters, and the land. But He is also at work within us who are His children. I have found that sometimes we get in the way when God is working within our lives. He doesn’t need our help! Try not to insist on doing things your way. The Bible (Isaiah 55) clearly tells us that His ways are NOT our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. A final reminder is that it’s important for us to be obedient. When we cooperate with God, it sure makes life easier! I’ve learned this lesson the hard way.

So, reassess your problem/dilemma ---- now exactly what is TOO big for God? Immeasurably nothing!

Look UP my friends!
