Jesus loves ME?!

"Jesus Loves Me" simply states the deep truth of God's love for mankind. Although in our country it is usually taught to little children, it is also a blessing to adults around the world.  You may not know that it was originally written in 1860 as a poem by Anna B. Warner and included as part of a story meant to comfort the heart of a dying child. One author says, "In 1861 Mr. William Bradbury put the poem to music, and he added the chorus.  It was published it as a part of his hymnal collection, The Golden Sower."
Jesus loves me, this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.  Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak but He is strong.

 Chorus:
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me!  Loves me still,
Tho I'm very weak and ill, That I might from sin be free,
Bled and died upon the tree.
Jesus loves me! He who died - Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in.
Jesus loves me! He will stay. Close beside me all the way.
Thou hast bled and died for me; I will henceforth live for Thee.
When our nieces and nephew were little children, I repeatedly sang this song to them at bedtime. I would inset their name in the place of ‘me’. Jesus loves Scott. Jesus loves Samantha. Jesus loves Allana. It really personalizes the hymn! Try inserting YOUR name…it will increase the intimacy and depth of the song. It does for me at least.  Jesus loves ME – as unlovable and unworthy I am. He loves ME.
Reader, you understand that it was a personal ‘thing’ that Jesus did…His dying for you! Willingly paying your sin debt. My sin debt. Yes, insert your name here….”For God so loved _______ that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 3:16 (Arguably the most quoted verse from the Bible) How does it make you feel to truly know that Jesus died for YOU? God have His ONLY Son to die…for you.

 I can’t explain it. It’s quite challenging to understand WHY Jesus loves us so much…but He really does! I encourage you to thank HIM for what He has done for you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray to You in the name of your Son, Jesus. I want to lift you up! I want to thank You for loving me, my faults, failures, and all that I am. Thank You for allowing me to be YOUR child – for your great love!  I am immeasurably blessed to be a part of your family. Thank You, O’ God, for giving your Son to die for me. Thank you, Father, for all of the graces you have given me this day. Help me to be a light to a lost and dying world. We need you, Father. I need you. And I thank YOU for loving ME. Amen.
Look UP my friends!
